Norway! Where to pay with Bitcoin via Lighting Network

Oslo Airport

You can now pay with Bitcoin using the Lightning Network at Oslo Airport. TRN (Travel Retail Norway), the operator of duty-free and travel retail outlets across all major airports in Norway, in empowering users to do so, not only that, its CEO is exited about it.

The service is available online using a Click & Collect pre-order system, allowing you to purchase duty-free goods online and collect them at the airport. You can find it in the Tax Free Norway web site, We checked the site and did not observe the Bitcoin payment option at checkout, but noted the instruction to “pay at the airport.” We checked the FAQ and found that they do, in effect, accept Bitcoin.

The solution is powered by Satoshi Consult. The CEO of TRN was quoted saying: “Our mission is to operate and develop Norway’s tax-free stores to help finance Norwegian aviation. We believe that this will create a buzz in the Bitcoin community and help put Oslo and Norway on the map as forward-thinking destinations”. We fully agree!

Now think about it: if TRN is accepting Bitcoin, many more companies in Norway will follow. It is a domino effect, and we will stay tuned, monitoring adoption.

What can you do to help?

If you are in Norway, have you considered putting your keyboard to work for Bitcoin? Help the revolution. Following this precedent, use it as a tool: write to the email and social media accounts of all your favorite restaurants, bars, service providers and supermarkets. Let them know they are falling behind and should accept Bitcoin as TRN is doing. It is converted on the spot to the local currency, but it is Bitcoin running the show and that matters.

Summary
